At Purbeck Ice Cream we are not only committed to making excellent Ice Cream, but we are also active in our care for the environment and the community in which we live.

reduce, re-use, recycle

Just like it says - we reduce, re-use and recycle as much as we can!

We take our recylcing to the recycling centre and to reduce our carbon foot print combine the journey with collecting the sugar that we need to use in our ice cream. Our plastic buckets are in hot demand from friends as well as customers to use for animal feed storage, fishing tackle containers, dyeing clothes, beer and wine making and many other things besides.

Purbeck Ice Cream with the help of Global Action plan has identified the Carbon Footprint for the business for 2008, have reduced it in 2009 and is working towards reducing it further during 2010.

All deliveries are streamlined to take into account efficient use of fuel whilst reducing our need to re visit or re use roads. Our customers are helping us to reduce mileage by taking as much stock as they can thus reducing the need for additional visits.

All compressors have been replaced by smaller, more energy efficient models with over half replaced already!

Cooling is maintained by cold water with the heat transfer then utilised in heating purposes
