Purbeck Film Festival

The Purbeck Film Festival (PFF) began in 1996 with screenings at the Mowlem and the Rex Cinema in Wareham to celebrate 100 years of cinema and has, in its 28 years, continued to grow in both venues and audience numbers. Their aim is to provide cinematic experiences across a rural area which does not have easy access to foreign language, independent and classic films.

From these small beginnings the PFF has grown in size to approximately 100 films including 6 outdoor events at Corfe Castle, Durlston Country Park, Studland and Wareham . The festival has always seen itself as a community resource and therefore offers a cinematic umbrella to a great number of venues ranging from village halls, churches, hotels and community centres.

PFF has a great deal of support from the community, and we are proud to be one of the major sponsors again this year, making it over 10 years now. Almost all of the work they do is dependent on volunteers.

“We are proud to bring such a metropolitan selection of films to rural parts of Dorset and we rely on the kind generosity of the community and local businesses to allow us to do more of what we do. We are especially grateful to Purbeck Ice Cream for their unstinting support for so many years and it is safe to say that our audiences love a Purbeck Ice Cream with their film!” Claire Burns, Festival Director

The Purbeck Film Festival 2023 will run from 20th October to 4th November. But there are also tickets available now for their outdoor screenings throughout August.  Click here to see what’s on.

We hope to see you at a screening, and in booking a great night out, also help support this great charity.
