Giving…it’s a way of life

The commitment to help support our local community and the three charities chosen by the team remains vitally important to us all with regular contributions of delicious Purbeck Ice Cream, raffle prizes, support for our customers and suppliers and any funds raised by our team donated throughout the year.
The charities value greatly what we do and have benefitted significantly from the donations throughout 2019 to the tune of £16,000.00!

We continued our support for the twelfth year for the Youth Cancer Trust donating £1700. The YCT is supported with free deliveries to Tracy Ann House who offer week long holidays to groups of life limited children and young adults from across the UK.

Diverse Abilities are a charity who cater for children and adults who have a range of diverse abilities – some being more able than others and some needing special, dedicated care and commitment from their caring team. They have enjoyed many tubs of Purbeck Ice Cream for the children, adults, carers and staff and enjoyed over £2600 during 2019.

Forest Holme Hospice give caring and sympathetic end of life care in an environment of peace and compassion for patients, families and friends and have enjoyed and appreciated £7500 ordering for themselves as well as using the tubs to raise more funds for FHH.

Yay – more ice cream breakfasts!
Honeycombe has got to be the best ice cream EVER!! I can ‘think’ that I can’t eat anything….but actually there’s always room for some Purbeck
Ice Cream!!! Gorgeous!! Youth Cancer Trust

We joined the Jurassic Coast Trust as business partners in 2018 and continue to donate 5p for every Jurassic Range retail tub sold, helping to support our coastline whilst educating on how to manage our most beautiful and unique area. During 2019, we gave just under £1,500.

Bournemouth, Poole and Yeovil Hospitals thoroughly enjoy our patient care tubs supplied at a very low margin giving natural sustenance and enjoyment for those who are poorly in hospital. We are currently waiting to hear if we are to start supplying Poole Hospital too as this will increase the 170,000 tubs supplied during 2019.

We’ve sent out Raffle Prizes to all sorts of wonderful local charitable events including; Poole Foodbank, Westfield Arts, St Georges Langton, Hillside, Cattistock and Purbeck Schools. Several Field Days, Fayres and Fetes and many cancer charities for brain, breast and prostate cancer. For McMillan, Marie Curie and Children in Need, we’ve given talks and tours for 4 to Swanage School, Swanage Disabled group and donated tubs to the International Chamber Festival, Purbeck Careline, Red Nose Day and Screen Bites and helped support the wonderful Purbeck Film Festival too. We’ve decorated a Christmas Tree at the annual festival helping raise funds for Amelia’s House and Air Ambulance and raised £65 from the team Christmas Card for Corfe Castle Festivities Committee to keep Corfe lights twinkling.

With all these donations and JCT, coins deposited in the collecting tubs, supporting our customers and suppliers fund raising efforts, raffle prizes, talks and tours, sponsorship and odd giveaways for our loyal customers and generally being jolly good eggs we have achieved donations of £16k in 2019.

For 2020, we continue our commitment to our local community and have committed once again, to give our support to three charities, chosen by the team, where we feel we can make a real difference by donations of Purbeck Ice Cream to enjoy as well as help raise funds.

After 12 years we have said goodbye to the Youth Cancer Trust and welcome in the Purbeck Youth & Community Foundation .This is a charitable organisation formed in 2016 by local volunteers in response to Dorset County Council’s appeal for community groups to take over the management of youth centres. Based next door to the Purbeck Sports Centre in Wareham they cater for young and young at heart locals to support, enable and inspire everyone in our community to Live Young, Live Life.

We will continue with our regular donations to Diverse Abilities , who are a charity supporting children and adults who have physical and learning difficulties.
They are an independent, not for profit organisation working together with families to help meet the needs of local people, of all ages, with physical and learning disabilities.

Finally for our third charity is Forest Holme Hospice who give caring and considerate end of life care as well as supporting their families and carers and everyone helping raise funds at the hospice.

Raffle prizes are always been sought from schools and charities as well as from some of our generous customers and suppliers – and we will continue to provide these as and when asked.
