Four years ago, Anthony packed up his life in New Zealand and boarded a plane to the UK. As he puts it, he moved here “on a whim”, bringing with him an idea he believed could change the way people enjoy coffee at home.
That idea became Ezpresso.
Now based in Dorset, Anthony has built a business around one simple belief: everyone should be able to enjoy exceptional coffee without needing expensive equipment or barista training. It’s a philosophy that has shaped Ezpresso from day one and one that made partnering with Purbeck Ice Cream feel like a natural fit.

Anthony’s passion for coffee started long before he arrived in the UK. Working alongside his brother, who had spent years in the coffee industry, they began exploring a different way to make café-quality coffee more accessible. Their goal was simple: to create a product that delivered the flavour and quality of a freshly brewed espresso while fitting seamlessly into everyday life.
“I wanted to make that café experience accessible to everyone,”
Anthony explains. “The quality had to match. If it wasn’t good enough, there was no point doing it.”
That commitment to quality immediately resonated with us.

For Tim Hartle, Operations Director at Purbeck Ice Cream, this partnership represents something much bigger than a new flavour.

The Craft Behind the Coffee
Unlike traditional coffee concentrates, Ezpresso’s coffee is made using just two ingredients: coffee and cold water. Through a bespoke cold extraction process that takes around 12 hours, the coffee develops a rich, smooth flavour while preserving the natural character of the beans. Every batch is carefully monitored and made by hand, producing a coffee that’s full of depth without the bitterness that heat can bring.
It’s a process that reflects Anthony’s approach to business. There are no shortcuts, just patience, consistency and a determination to create something he can be proud of.

Creating a great coffee ice cream isn’t simply a matter of adding coffee to an ice cream base. It’s about finding the right balance. We wanted a flavour with enough richness to satisfy coffee lovers while keeping the smooth, creamy texture that Purbeck Ice Cream is known for.
Working together, we spent time tasting, refining and experimenting until we found the perfect combination.
The result is a beautifully creamy coffee ice cream with a rich espresso flavour and a smooth finish. The coffee brings depth and character without overpowering the dairy, creating a flavour that’s indulgent, balanced and perfect for coffee lovers and ice cream lovers alike.

For Anthony, seeing his coffee become part of another handcrafted product has been one of the most rewarding parts of the collaboration.
“It’s still made by hand every day,” he says. “The exciting part is seeing what comes out at the end. That’s what makes all the hours worthwhile.”
